Visiting Austin for work or one of our many wonderful festivals? Wondering where to get your grub on? Don’t fret, we’ve got you covered. Luckily for you, the Austin food scene is just as eclectic as its inhabitants. Unfortunately, if you’re just here visiting, you’re stuck in a brutal game of Catch-22. That’s why we have put together an Austin Food Guide specifically for you.
Austin is known for it’s abundance of eateries providing top quality BBQ and Tex-Mex, but in 2011 thats just the foundation to the wide array of restaurants and food trailers that feed the inhabitants of this fine city.
In the past couple of years Austin has experienced a food trailer revolution, which has completely changed the eating habits of our residents. And we’re not talking about your typical street food here. You can find food trailers selling anything from the standard fares of Tacos & BBQ, to the likes of: Fried Chicken Waffle Tacos, Gourmet Doughnuts, Sushi, Turf & Surf Po Boys, and even places like the Odd Duck which serves only locally sustainable food products on a rotating menu from a local chef. Yes, Austin has top chefs opening food trailers to show off their talents. Even one of the chefs from Uchi opened a trailer, well actually 2 food trailers now, and they are both phenomenal. Hint: It’s called East Side King.
So what we did, was break it up into categories, and provide you with more than enough options to satisfy your cravings while visiting Austin. Since things are always changing, I recommend you call ahead to verify hours and availability in advance. Enjoy!
